This Queen bed was constructed using solid American black walnut. All of the joinery consists of integral mortise and tenon construction. Careful attention was paid to grain matching and grain orientation. I filled all of the knot holes with a black epoxy filler which disappears into the wood adding to the appearance. The top rails feature curly figured walnut and ebony dowels which attach the top to the head board and foot board. The box spring and mattress support structure consists of 4 poplar slats which are dovetailed into the side rails and supported in the center by tapered walnut feet. The side rails attach the headboard to the footboard with massive 12" tall 2" wide 80" long solid walnut boards from a single slab of walnut. The bed weighs in at over 400 lbs. and is solid as rock. Other species of wood are available upon request. If you have a vision of a bed you are looking for let me help you bring it to life.
